L17 Driving Training
The L17 licence allows an early start in driving training before the age of 18. In addition to theory lessons and practical driving hours, accompanied driving is included. A central component of L17 training is supervised practice drives, during which beginners gain practical experience under supervision.

First Aid Course
A first aid course is a legal requirement for obtaining a driving licence. It covers basic measures for providing assistance in road accidents and medical emergencies.
Pre-Driving Medical Examination
The medical examination is used to assess fitness to drive. It is required before taking the driving test and is carried out in accordance with legal requirements.
Advanced Practice Drives
Advanced practice drives are part of the follow-up training after passing the driving test. They serve as special practice drives to deepen practical skills and safe application in real road traffic.
Road Safety Training
Road safety training is part of the multi-phase training and is carried out at specially equipped facilities. A valid driving licence is required to participate. The aim is to train behaviour in critical driving situations and improve road safety.

How long do I have to complete my driving licence?
Our starter package is valid for 12 months. This does not mean you must complete your licence within this time. You simply need to repay the fees for the 1st theory exam and 1st practical exam if you have not yet sat them within 12 months. If you have already sat an exam but failed, the exam fee is also due for retaking.
Once you have passed the theory exam, it remains valid for 18 months. You must pass the practical exam within this period. If not completed within 18 months, the theory exam must be retaken.
How long is my permit valid?
How long is my permit valid?
During your training, you will encounter various permits and certificates. Here is an overview of their validity:
- L and L17 permits: Valid for 18 months, cannot be extended. A change to your training plan is required after expiry. Needed to practise privately with an accompanying person.
- Medical certificate: Valid for 18 months from the date of issue. Must be entered into the driver's licence register by the traffic authority (takes 4–6 weeks). No exam can be booked until this is done.
- First aid course: No expiration date, valid indefinitely. A 6-hour course (life-saving emergency measures) is required for the driving licence.
How much notice do I need to reschedule or cancel an appointment?
Notice periods for rescheduling and cancellations
The following notice periods apply (Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are not counted):
- 2 driving lessons: 2 working days (48 hours) before the lesson
- 4 driving lessons, NF or practice area: 4 working days (96 hours) before
- Theory exam: 7 working days before the appointment
- Practical exam: 9 working days before the appointment
If notice periods are not observed, the full price will be charged. Cancellations can only be made by phone or in person at the driving school.
What does the "starter package" include?

What do I need to register at the driving school?
To register, we require a valid passport or ID card, proof of residence (Meldezettel), and a deposit for the respective licence class.
How long does it take to get a driving licence?
How long does it take to get a driving licence?
The duration depends on several factors and cannot be given as a fixed timeframe. The main influencing factors are:
- Scheduling flexibility: Evening and Saturday slots are in high demand. Waiting times of 2–4 weeks are possible if availability is limited.
- Medical report registration: The traffic authority typically takes 4–6 weeks. No exam can be booked until it is entered in the register.
- Theory exam: Held every Monday from 12:00 (max. 12 participants). Average waiting time: 3–4 weeks.
- Practical exam: Typically twice a week Tue–Fri (max. 7 participants). Average waiting time: 3–4 weeks.
How long do I have to wait before retaking an exam?
Waiting period before retaking an exam
After a failed attempt, you are barred from the traffic office for 2 weeks. This does not guarantee an available appointment – availability depends on the current exam schedule.
- Theory exam: No limit on the number of retake attempts.
- Practical exam: After 4 failed attempts, you will receive a letter from the traffic office with further instructions. At least 4 driving lessons must be completed before each retake.
What is the multi-phase training?
Multi-phase training (Mehrphasenausbildung) is a mandatory second phase of training after obtaining your first driving licence (class B, L17, A1, A2, A). It consists of advanced practice drives with a driving instructor and road safety training with a traffic psychology consultation. Both must be completed within 12 months of obtaining your licence.
